Springfield Thunderbirds Game Night
Help us honor the bravery and selflessness of our first responders on Saturday, Jan. 27 as the T-Birds host Providence on United Bank Hometown Heroes Night! Be sure to say hi to some of your favorite cartoon heroes as well, as Marvel legends Spider-Man and Iron Man make their way to the MassMutual Center!
The Springfield police Ride to Remember has teamed with the Springfield Thunderbirds for a Jan. 27 fundraiser to raise money for the annual bicycle ride to Boston in honor of fallen officers.
For the Jan. 27 game vs. the Providence Bruins, the Ride to Remember will be raffling off two authentic game jerseys emblazoned with the number 7 to commemorate officer Kevin Ambrose who was murdered on duty in 2012 responding to a domestic disturbance.
Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney, the main organizer for the Ride to Remember, said tickets to the raffle will be sold during the game. The Ride to Remember will also have a booth set up to sell t-shirts, to provide information about the Sept. 8 ride, and to accept applications from anyone who wishes to sign up it.
People who sign up during the game will receive a $50 discount off the $300 registration fee, he said.
Area police and firefighters will receive free admission to the game, and can receive discounted tickets of $14 per person for family and friends. To reserve tickets, interested parties should call Katie Force with the Thunderbirds ticket office at 413 417-2296, or send an email to email@example.com.
People can also register for tickets through the Ride to Remember website at www.ridetoremember.bike by following the "news" tab at the top of the page. The American Hockey League announced its rosters today for the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Turning Stone Resort Casino, to be held January 28-29 at the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, N.Y., home of the Utica Comets.
