The traveling exhibit created by the Kohl Children’s Museum features reproductions of over a dozen masterpieces by the modern artist Marc Chagall (1887-1985) accompanied by audio recordings and hands-on interactive elements. It consists of photographic storyboards on individuals (both living and dead) who faced challenges and dangers to help their fellow human beings.

Play paintball on our four cool fields after a day of rafting on the Kennebec or Dead River. After the raft trip cookout and slideshow (about 4:00) we'll gather up the guns, throw on the camouflage and head to the playing fields for some action packed paintball games. Play until dusk - now that is cool! $45pp – 3 hours of play plus 500 paintballs.

Smith College Museum of Art Exhibition: Leisure & Luxury in the Age of Nero

through–August 17. Featuring works seen for the first time outside Italy, this groundbreaking exhibition centers on the ancient town of Oplontis on the Neapolitan coast, a site that was buried and preserved when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 CE. The exhibition focuses on two adjacent, spectacular Roman archaeological sites—one an enormous luxury villa (“Villa A”) that once sprawled along the coast of the Bay of Naples, the other a nearby commercial-residential complex (“Villa B”), where products from the region were exported.

Deerfield Memorial Hall Museum EXHIBITION: Astronomy, Geology, and Dino Tracks! Oh my!

Edward’s significant work on Connecticut Valley fossil footprints and Orra’s scientific illustrations rocked the world in the 19th century. This exhibition introduces the Hitchcocks’ many contributions to astronomy, botany, geology, and ichnology in the very place they started a lifetime of work together. Admission is $6 for adults; $3 for youth and students 6-21.

Springfield Museums Exhibit: Marc Chagall and Friends: The Salon des Indépendants

July 18, 2017, through January 28, 2018. The display features a print by Chagall alongside rarely seen works by Alexander Archipenko, Jacques Lipchitz, and Amedeo Modigliani, all of whom lived in the same studio apartment complex as Chagall between 1911 and 1914. Additionally, the exhibit contains prints by several artists affiliated with the “School of Paris,” a burgeoning group of immigrant artists that included famed cubist Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall.

Out of the Darkness: The Art of Frank Miller is the first comprehensive museum exhibition devoted to renowned comic book artist whose award-winning work helped to transform the comic book industry and redefine the look and feel of today’s superhero films. The exhibition will examine Miller’s distinctive style for specific characters, such as Wolverine, Daredevil, Elektra, and an aging, vengeful Batman who battles Superman. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with essays by comic book and pop culture historians, as well as Mr. Kowalski.
