Uno Chicago Bar and Grill Live Music Summer Courtyard Series

This year's series will kick off May 1 and run nightly through Sept. 3, then Thursdays through Sundays from Sept. 7 to Oct. 1. There is no cover charge for these shows and the music runs 6-10 p.m. All shows are weather permitting.

White Lion Wednesdays

 White Lion Wednesdays begins on May 17 and runs through August 30, and features a rotating schedule, running from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at places like The MassLive Building, Tower Square Park, and The Marketplace. Lisa Martin Trio (May 17), Boogaloo Trio (July 26) and Alex Tuohey (Aug. 16). Play giant jenga or cornhole!

Springfield Cultural District, Painted Public Pianos

Visitors, residents, and employees of Downtown Springfield can expect their daily walk to be a little bit more fun. Three painted pianos are in public spaces brightening dark corners and making Downtown a bit more musical. The locations are along Main Street. Beginning on July 12, local professional pianists will be playing on the painted pianos during the 12PM-1PM lunch hour. It will continue every Wednesday through August.

Springfield Museums, Meet Your Samurai Ancestors

Extended by popular demand! Springfield Museums host a unique and imaginative exhibit that brings together original graphic novel art from the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series with colorful Japanese woodblock prints depicting samurai warriors and examples of 19th century armor and swords used by actual samurai. Turtle Power! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Samurai Heroes draws from Japanese artwork, arms, and armor to provide visitors with a rare glimpse of the real-life inspiration for the popular cartoon and graphic novel series. through – Sept 3, 2017.

Springfield Museums Exhibit: The Power of the Poster

A new exhibition at Springfield’s Wood History Museum reminds viewers to never underestimate the power of the right images combined with the right words to make change happen. Woodrow Wilson proved it one hundred years ago. The Division of Pictorial Publicity created more than 700 posters promoting Liberty Bonds, military recruitment, food conservation, and other patriotic issues using images created by some of the country’s most illustrious artists. History on the Home Front: The Power of the Poster in WWI, Now through October 15.

Springfield Museums, Exploring the World of Fairy Tales

Through Sept 3. Children can literally step inside beloved stories from around the globe. The tales include: Anansi and the Talking Melon, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, The Elves and the Shoemaker, Jack and the Beanstalk, Lon Po Po, and Thumbelina. Visitors enter the exhibit via a magical portal into a fabulous storybook kingdom where they'll learn the meaning and history of tales they've known all their lives and others that may be new to them.

Norman Rockwell Museum Exhibition: The Famous Artists School

Learning from the Masters will include original artworks, studies, photographs, archival films documenting live demonstrations and commentary by the artists, contemporary interviews, and lesson plans. The exhibition is organized into seven sections that explore the major instructional themes that the famous illustrators identified as foundational for artists.

Springfield Museums Exhibit: Jeweled Objects of Desire

On view through December 31. Visitors of all ages will be dazzled by extraordinary gems, beautiful jewelry and fantastically embellished creations from the collections of the Smithsonian Institution. The special exhibition also features the work of internationally renowned jewelry designer Sidney Mobell, celebrated for crafting common utilitarian items into unique artworks through the use of gold and precious gemstones. Free with museum admission.
