Norman Rockwell Museum Exhibition: Never Abandon Imagination

Never Abandon Imagination: The Fantastical Art of Tony DiTerlizzi, an exhibition of works by the acclaimed illustrator/writer that will be on view at the Museum through May 28, 2018. Known for his successful book series The Spiderwick Chronicles, DiTerlizzi is widely celebrated for his images of such fantasy creatures as fairies, trolls, sprites, and goblins. The exhibition will highlight the artist’s influences and artistic process.

Springfield Museums Exhibit: Human Plus: Real Lives + Real Engineering

January 27 –May 6. Fully interactive, Human Plus offers visitors a chance to explore and create a range of low- and high-tech tools that extend the abilities of the human body! Visitors can ride a mono-ski in a simulated ski race, control a DJ station using the wheels of a wheelchair, “feel” the music with a special touch panel, engineer solutions to unique design challenges and even discover how someone can control a neuroprosthetic limb with their thoughts! Human Plus also showcases compelling stories from a unique field of engineering that helps people carry out their day-to-day routines, as well as realize their lifelong dreams.

Springfield Technical Community College Carberry Gallery Presents "Legacy"

February 1-28. In celebration of Black History Month, the gallery presents McCannon's elaborate and colorful quilt designs highlighting the many women of color who have made significant contributions to the history of African Americans. All quilts are made of wool and fiber that has been felted, hand-embroidered and beaded into intricate quilt designs. A meet-and-greet reception is schedule for Feb. 22, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Bionic Me focuses on technology that takes its inspiration from the natural world, in order for humans to overcome difficulties and enhance their lives. This exhibit explores the inventive and ingenious medical and industrial breakthroughs that have helped enhance the human experience, and contains both hands-on and full-body experiences.

Norman Rockwell Museum Exhibition: Pulp Romance

Norman Rockwell Museum presents Gloria Stoll Karn: Pulp Romance, an exhibition of works by Ms. Stoll Karn, one of just a few female illustrators working during the heyday of popular romance and dime store magazines of the 1940s. On view at the Museum from February 10 through June 10, 2018, the exhibition will look at the artistic contributions that Stoll Karn made to the pulp fiction industry, and her unexpected journey in a world previously assigned to male artists. Opening reception February 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
