Norman Rockwell Museum Exhibition: Never Abandon Imagination

Never Abandon Imagination: The Fantastical Art of Tony DiTerlizzi, an exhibition of works by the acclaimed illustrator/writer that will be on view at the Museum through May 28, 2018. Known for his successful book series The Spiderwick Chronicles, DiTerlizzi is widely celebrated for his images of such fantasy creatures as fairies, trolls, sprites, and goblins. The exhibition will highlight the artist’s influences and artistic process.

Norman Rockwell Museum Exhibition: Pulp Romance

Norman Rockwell Museum presents Gloria Stoll Karn: Pulp Romance, an exhibition of works by Ms. Stoll Karn, one of just a few female illustrators working during the heyday of popular romance and dime store magazines of the 1940s. On view at the Museum from February 10 through June 10, 2018, the exhibition will look at the artistic contributions that Stoll Karn made to the pulp fiction industry, and her unexpected journey in a world previously assigned to male artists. Opening reception February 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Springfield Museums Exhibit: Contemporary Ceramics

February 20, 2018–September 9, 2018. Pulled from the storage vaults of the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, this exhibition features modern and contemporary ceramics from the permanent collection. Recognized by American museums as fine art only within the past seventy years, ceramic pieces are still often relegated to the category of decorative art or craft. This exhibition celebrates the outstanding creativity of American artists working in clay during the 20th century including Brother Thomas Bezanson, George Peterson and Beatrice Wood.

Through March 12. Art Exhibition: All Two-Gather by Andrae Green. Andrae Green’s paintings span his career, and in a way, is a mini-retrospection. The paintings show how his thought process has evolved—and is evolving—and also where he might end up. Painting is how he documents both his inner and outer life and it helps him to come to grips with worlds within and outside.

Smith College Botanic Garden Spring Bulb Show

The crisp air of late winter and early spring is broken by the warm scents of wood smoke and maple syrup wafting during OSV Maple Days celebrations March 3-4, 10-11, 17-18, 24-25. Learn about how maple sugaring was done in 19th-century New England by visiting OSV’s sugar camp. Plus, see how maple syrup was “sugared off” to make maple sugar, learn how the maple sugar process has changed over the years.

March 6-27. Carberry Gallery presents new work/solo exhibition by Sean Greene, a Florence, Mass, artist. Sean Greene has been exhibiting frequently in the U.S. in galleries. He received grants from the Somerville and Northampton Arts Councils, the Artists Resource Trust and recently has been awarded a Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship. His work is in private collections in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, and France, as well as the corporate collection of Neiman Marcus, and the University Museum of Contemporary Art in Amherst.
