| The mission of the Western MA Sports Commission is to capitalize on the region’s history of sport, abundance of colleges and ideal infrastructure to attract more small, medium and large scale sporting events of all types into Springfield and the region; clearly such expanded business will positively affect the hospitality industry in specific and the regional economy in general. The Commission, as a division of the Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, will increase the economic impact of sporting events in the area by coordinating regional sporting event bids, hosting and marketing the events and raising the stature and awareness for the region as a sports/tourism destination. |
